Meredith Vickers: If you’re really going down there, you’re going to die.

Peter Weyland: Very negative way of looking at things. Exactly why you should have stayed at home.

Meredith Vickers: Did you really think I was gonna sit in a boardroom for years arguing over who was in charge while you go look for some miracle on some god forsaken rock in the middle of space? A king has his reign, and then he dies. It’s inevitable. That is natural order of things.

The Witch of Endor was an oracle who predicted King Saul’s death in the battle of Gilboa. She conjures the spirit of the deceased prophet Samuel who had predicted before his death that Saul would lose his kingdom. The spectre foretells that God has rejected him and will no longer hear his prayers, he has given the kingdom to David (the favourite of the King) and that the next day he will lose life in battle. Saul cowers in fear, but the medium offers him comfort.

In pagan spiritualism a similar example was given:
The pagans thought much in the same manner upon it. Lucan introduces Pompey, who consults a witch, and commands her to evoke the soul of a dead man to reveal to him what success he would meet with in his war against Cæsar; the poet makes this woman say:
“Shade, obey my spells, for I evoke not a soul from gloomy Tartarus, but one which hath gone down thither a little while since, and which is still at the gate of hell.” – Calmet,
Augustin. Treatise on the Apparitions of Spirits and on Vampires or Revenants: of Hungary, Moravia, et al. The Complete Volumes I & II. 2016. p. 237.

This is part of the cosmic horror of Eternal Recurrence, also known as Eternal Return.

The belief held in Indian Philosophy and Ancient Egypt dictates that life will inevitably repeat itself, much like the lifecycle of the Xenomorph.

This theme is carried out through all the movies and books, repeated themes and situations reflecting this philosophy are part of the structure of the Alien series.
